Bold New Vision on Blood Research

Each year there are perhaps as many as 20,000 preventable deaths caused by blood loss in the United States. In the U.S. military, uncontrolled blood loss is noted as the leading cause of death in 90 percent of potentially survival battlefield casualties. The opening of a new research center at Maryland holds the potential to reverse some of these devastating statistics.
